Earth Town Network
Tipis & Tractors
I chose this title to represent an openness in the Earth Town
process. I personally have a lack of faith in our industrial society.
I do not think that modern technology is going to do anything but
continue to accelerate the destruction of our ecosystems.

BUT I am not interested in imposing my grief on another person's
gift of free choice. I am open to the possibility that some forms
of technology may work in the long run. Although I look at our
present technological culture as a mirror of human lunacy, greed
and lazyness, I am open to a demonstration of technology that
works in harmony with the natural world.

It is not strictly a problem with technology, but a problem with a
culture that doesn't have the checks and balances in place to
handle modern technology. Everything revolves around money
which is not a viable basis for a sustainable future. We don't have
a leadership with Elders for guidance, etc., etc.

I see this network as a place where new and old ideas can mix. I
anticipate that we are headed into a period of human history
where many of the 'older' technologies are gong to return. But
the possibility exists that some mix of modern technology may
prove worthwhile. The Earth Town Network is a place for this
experimentation to occur. Bioregional living patterns may prove
very viable. There are all kinds of historically proven cultural and
living technology that we can explore and integrate.
We have the gifts of electricity and gasoline at this time in the
evolutionary cycle. Unfortunately we are totally addicted to them and
we are abusing these gifts to the max. Almost everyone I talk to wants
enough solar panels to support their present lifestyle with electric can
openers, hair dryers, 36" plasma TV screens etc. No one is seriously
considering a livestyle of 1000 watts per day.
I think we have to start with an acknowledgement of our addiction to hydrocarbons.
We have to explore our personal wants vs our real needs. Are home grown tomatoes
worth more than watching the evening news? We have to get real about our purposes
for living on earth. We have to start to unwind the grief that has been accumulating in
our bodies for many years.

Once we start to understand and clear up some of our destructive traits, we can
approach LIVING from a fresh viewpoint. Once we start to dance with the Great
Mystery, many of our fears will dissolve. As we process our grief and release our
fears, new doorways will open and our reconnection with Earth Living will Flow.

Please note that membership in an Earth Town is not an instant ticket to Nirvana. It
will take a great deal of inner and outer work to make these Towns successful. If you
are not ready to chop wood and carry water, please consider another alternative.
We may live in Tipis and garden with Tractors.

I stumbled into this illustration.
I am not certain but I think it is a sketch
of an Iroquois Village in the early 1600's.

Study this a bit.

It has a very organic feeling.
Note the gardens.
No sense of want.
People dancing.
